Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript describes the miRNA analysis of a sugarcane variety ROC22 considered to be N-efficient. Here, the authors made a good effort to understand the miRNA responses of ROC22 to low N supply and identified miRNAs associated with low N tolerance in this variety. Then they generated sugarcane miRNA transgenic lines of Arabidopsis and demonstrated the proposed the low N tolerance function of miRNA. The experiments are well-conducted, and the conclusions are backed by the data presented. I recommend that it be considered for publication.
