In work entitled "Long-term trend and variability of volume and heat transport through the boundaries of the Java Sea based on a global ocean circulation model (1950 – 2013) " by Rachmayani1 et al., the Authors analyzed the interannual variability of coastal dense water cascades and open sea convection in the Gulf of Lions (NW Mediterranean). I have read the manuscript, and I saw that its results fall within the scope of the journal. However, the writings need careful revision, and I have some doubts about the methodology followed and the purpose of the work (please see my comments below), and thus I think that this manuscript needs major revisions before its eventual acceptance.
Comment:1 The abstract need to careful attention for improvement to improve readability. For example: “The variability of volume and advective heat transport, the linear trend of volume and advective heat transport, and the net inflow and outflow of advective heat transport in the Java Sea for 64 years (1950–2013) have all been studied” can be rephrased as
“The variability and trend of volume and advective heat transport, and the net inflow and outflow of advective heat transport in the Java Sea for 64 years (1950–2013) have all been studied”
Comment 2: Line 11-12, It is not clear whether authors have used model output or performed simulation, it need to be rephrased.
Comment 3: Line 12-13, is a kind of repetition of line 9-10
Comment 4: Line -15-16 “The analysis's findings indicate that seasonal variability, which has a period of 12 months, has a very significant impact” not clear
Comment 5: Over, please revise the whole Abstract
Comment:6 Introduction needs to add recent references and includes some discussion of the motivation of the study (need of high-resolution modeling).

Srivastava et al 2017: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.oceano.2017.10.001
For the period of seasonal, intra-seasonal, and interannual variability, please follows the previous studies, here are few.

Keerthi et al. 2013. doi: https://doi.org/10.1007/s00382-012-1295-2
Comment:7 Section 2.1. Data: I don’t think Line 87-91 is part of the data.
Comment:8 Line-112-117: It does not seem the scientific writing.
“Three steps were taken to complete the simulations”? Please rephrase it.
Comment:9 Line 122: “Estimates of zonal and meridional volume transports through the boundaries of the Java Sea” is not appropriate, the terms estimation does not part of the results, please rephrase it.
Comment:10: What about the spinup period?
Comment:11: Figures' quality is good, and the captions are informative
Comment:12 Conclusion is too short. I would suggest adding more information.
