Time Domain Analysis of NB-IoT Signals
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report (New Reviewer)
This paper is technically sound.
The abstract is vague. The authors must explicitly mention the research goal, approach or methodology that they are using to solve the research goals.
The section “Materials and methods” is also vague. Proper organization and details are necessary. A Figure for the research method would be helpful.

*The abstract is vague. The authors must explicitly mention the research goal, approach or methodology that they are using to solve the research goals.
Abstract has been reviewed in order to better point research methodology and goal
The section “Materials and methods” is also vague. Proper organization and details are necessary. A Figure for the research method would be helpful.
Also "Materials and methods" section has been reviewed in particular with details of acquisition settings
Reviewer 2 Report (New Reviewer)
The overall contribution of this work should be clearly depicted in this paper in the introduction part
The novelty involved in this work is not highlighted which raises questions about this research
Better to include key contributions of this work in the introduction part
Is this a survey work or any contribution from the author's side?
The experimental setup is not clearly depicted in this paper that needs to be properly explained with the technical details
Further directions of this research should be properly included in this work for the future research directions

The aim of this work is to demostrate that time domain measurements of NRS received power may be an alternative way to its measurement in code domain, required at the moment for extrapolation techniques. Time domain measurements may be performed with spectrum analyzers that are cheaper than vector analyzers.
The experimental setup is not clearly depicted in this paper that needs to be properly explained with the technical details
"Materials and methods" section has been reviewed better detailing analyzer acquisition settings.
Further directions of this research should be properly included in this work for the future research directions
Measurements must be replied on further NB-IoT cells to corfirm results of this first set. Further acquisitions with different analyzer settings (PEAK vs RMS detector, different RBW filter bandwidth) should also be performed to verify dependence of results on these parameters. This is mentioned at the end of §5.2. A short sentence has also been added at the end of "Conclusions" section.
Round 2
Reviewer 2 Report (New Reviewer)
This work can be accepted now as the authors incorporated the suggested changes.
This manuscript is a resubmission of an earlier submission. The following is a list of the peer review reports and author responses from that submission.
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
* Detail: 2 and 3 authors' affiliation is the same.
* Introduction needs more references, especially to support some statements or making available more information about them.
* Section 2 needs more references in text. For example in line 87 for standard's definition.
* Image quality in figure 2 and 3 should be improved.
* Figures 4, 5 and 6 are tables. This content has to be included as text.
* Section 4. Some discussion about the sentence "The acquisitions were carried 168 out using a width of the RBW filter equal to 10 kHz" should be necessary. How does this filter affect to the measurement? Its election is due to the only available filter lower than the BW of sub-carriers, but is it well-performed this measurement?
* Section 5.1. Some measurements are presented but is not clear the results discussion. For example, signals in time domain are shown and some opinion is presented but not well discussed (e.g. "Figure 11 and are probably due to the near subcarrier"). Moreover, it is not clear the use of "similar" to compare results "The trend is similar to that of Figure..." (what kind of parameter is similar?).
* Section 5.2. The statement of 0.5 dB is an excellent agreement should be discussed because which is the maximum difference accepted in this kind of measurements?
* The main aim of this paper, according to abstract, of using "...a more diffuse and cheaper instrumentation rather than 23 more expensive vector analyzers to assess electric field..." is not discussed in the paper. Moreover, if a standard is mandatory, both measurements and equipments have to ensure the quality of the process to certificate that it is well-done.
Reviewer 2 Report
Pros:
- The subject is interesting and relevant
- Real-world measurements in NB-IoT are lacking in literature
Cons:
- Very week contribution from the scientific point of view.
- No literature review
