Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This article reports an interesting work on the insulated core transformer (ICT) high voltage power supply. Before accepting, authors should revise the introductory section to include recent articles on the issue, describe in detail the innovation of this work and also give more details about the formalism of the FEM.

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors introduced an optimization method based on particle swam optimization to design the parameters of the insulated core transformer with the dummy primary windings. After looking through the draft, some comments are given as follows:

  1. Equation 1, σ0 and σ1. The expression is confused. Use, σ0,σ1 instead of  σ0,1. Besides, VSn is not in equation 1. So, the description of VSn should be placed in an appropriate location.
  2. Figure 2. Label the secondary windings clearly (you can refer to your figure 5) since the paper mainly discuss these parts.
  3. Please give the 3D FEM model, and point out what shaping functions and what type of element that you used since it will affect the error greatly. Have you coupled the results of circuit simulation with the FEM since it is also critical to assess the accuracy of the simulation? What kind of core do you use? Please give the parameter of the windings and cores for example the materials, the fill factor of the windings.
  4. Please pay attention to the subscript and upper script. For example, line 196 r1 and r2, c1 and c2.
