45S rDNA Diversity In Natura as One Step towards Ribosomal Heterogeneity in Arabidopsis thaliana
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
I recommend the publication of the article because the scientific experimentation on molecular marker studies used mainly on Arabidopsis thaliana, appears to be really interesting and topical. Structural analysis of 45S rDNA has demonstrated the conservation in nature of specific 5'ETS and 3'ETS sequences/characteristics necessary to control rDNA expression and rRNA processing. The genetic studies carried out provide interesting starting material for selecting subsets for rDNA transcription and altering the composition of ribosome rRNAs both within and between sites. The aim and objectives of the article have been stated and are very fascinating. The use of genetic material can be used for the selection of potentially suitable biological sources for further marker-assisted breeding.
Furthermore, many molecular aspects have not yet been highlighted. The work is certainly of international interest and the format applied is certainly suitable for a research article. The work is original, of particular interest and can certainly stimulate research on this topic. The length of the article is good for the journal and the graphs and tables are clear and easy to understand. The conclusion summarises the aims of the work and future prospects.

The diversity of 45s rDNA revealed in the manuscript provides an interesting starting material for selecting rDNA transcriptional subsets and altering the composition of ribosomes within and between sites. Worth receiving.
