- Institutions should recognize the vulnerability of the small island setting and the importance of preparation before an acute situation.
- Communication is key between management and staff in an acute and long-lasting emergency.
- Organizations should introduce a set of clear guidelines for each step of the emergency/pandemic response which the staff can easily follow.
- Institutions should provide psychological support to the hospital staff by initiating peer support networks through external and impartial organization, and by implementing a task force to support the needs.
