Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

It is a nice piece of work. However it would be better ( if possible) to incorporate some experimental data for model validation.

Author Response

we are grateful to reviewer #1 for his effort reviewing our manuscript,We plan to carry out model verification with experimental data in the future,At present, the main work is simulation. If possible, we will send the experimental data to you later. Thank you again for your review.

Reviewer 2 Report

The research is focused on CFD study on gas invasion behavior under different conditions. The flow process and characteristics of gas invasion and the effects of different drilling fluid properties and fracture morphology on gas invasion were studied.

The manuscript is well organized and the topic fits the scope of the journal. The presented results of the performed modeling work have scientific and practical meaning. However, the novelty should be better expressed. The references are somehow not up-to-date. A state-of-art of literary review could be given. The format of references should also fulfill the requirements of the journal.

Some details:

1.       The authors should present more information on CFD model details including model, boundary conditions, turbulence or laminar models, mesh sensitivity tests, validation, time step or time step sensitivity etc. Some of the details were missing in the present form of manuscript.

2.       The authors should supply 1 reference where the FLUENT software is presented/validated. For example website, official user guide.

3.       Show the full name of abbreviations when it appears first time, for example VOF

4.       Use professional descriptions on the CFD figures. For example, distribution of xx…, velocity profile etc. instead of cloud diagram, cloud chart etc.

Possible mistakes:

Line 60, theIt..

Line 84, incompatible

Line 93, Each The

Line 94 and 95, aq¼ 0?

Some typing or mistakes for example a blank between some places were missing. Please check all the information.

Round 2

Reviewer 2 Report

In line 97 to 98, the equation may be revised. Possiblely  Vq=0 and Vq=1.

The revised manuscript is carefully revised and suitable to be published in Processes.
