Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

In the present paper, the pyrolysis behaviors and characteristics, kinetics, thermodynamics and volatile products of single base propellant were calculated and analyzed in detail. The paper is well organized, and the research content is of great significance for the management of the environment, the recycling of single base propellants and even the enhancement of human health. Although I have doubts about some of the content, this article is indeed a good example in this field, and it is recommended that the paper be published after the authors have completed the following minor modifications.

1 What does A in Eq 11 mean? How was it selected? It is suggested that authors should provide appropriate explanation in the corresponding part.

2 The main pyrolysis and heat variation ranges should be added in Tables 3 and Table 5.

3 The effects of heating rate on the maximum reaction rate value of single base propellant pyrolysis should be illustrated.

4 It can be seen from Figure 2 and Table 5 that the FWHM of heat flow variation curves decreases with the increasing heating rate. However, the author did not explain what this means. Can appropriate supplementary explanations be made at the corresponding positions?

5 What is the meaning of T1/2 in section 3.1.2? What does it mean that this parameter decreases with the increase of heating rate?

6 Please keep the values of 1/Tpi in Table 6 with two significant digits to be consistent with other values.

7 The size of the characters in the title of Table 4 is not consistent. Please correct the error here and check it throughout the entire paper.

Please attention to Table 1 units of viscosity and thermal resistance test

Row 134: please remove "environmental" (temperature)

Chapter 2.2.1. Used "K" in the title kinetic methods

The figures are too small and therefore difficult to read

Page 9: The descriptions of a pre-exponential factor and the activation energy (both well known parameters) is too long and should be simplified. The same for the heat of reaction.

Chapter 3.1.3. In my view, the heat is absorbed, not released.

Figure 5. should not be 3-D> A graph (or a table) of compositions vs. temperature wold be more propriety.

Figure 6 can be removed

The section of analysis of products can be shortened

Conclusions: How the "environmental risk" may be avoided.

Reviewer 3 Report

This paper needs to be improved with the following recommended changes before being considered for publication. Please see below my comments.

 - There are numerous grammatical issues in the paper which should be reviewed by a native speaker accordingly.

- All abbreviations must be given full where first in use.

- Purpose of the study should be stated in a better way to reflect the importance of the work in terms of its application.

- The current paper touches an extremely important and yet complex problem. Introduction must be improved accordingly with relevant papers and applications.

- Uncertainty analysis should be performed with the inclusion of experimental data.

- I recommend the authors include “future work” as well as the importance of this work in relation to practical applications.

Must be checked by a native speaker.
