Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to extend our invitation for submissions to a Special Issue entitled "Application of Drones for Smart Cities" in the Journal of Applied Science, published by MDPI. This Special Issue aims to explore the multifaceted role of drones in advancing the infrastructure and sustainability of smart cities.
This Special Issue will delve into various dimensions of drone applications within smart cities, encompassing, but not limited to, the following areas:
Cargo Purposes: Investigating the utilization of drones for efficient and sustainable cargo transportation within urban landscapes, addressing challenges, and exploring innovative solutions.
Digital Twins: Exploring the integration of drone technology in the creation and maintenance of digital twins for urban environments, facilitating urban planning, infrastructure management and decision-making processes.
Precision Agriculture: Examining the role of drones in precision agriculture within urban and peri-urban settings, focusing on enhancing crop monitoring, management practices, and resource optimization.
We encourage submissions of original research articles and reviews that contribute to advancing our knowledge and implementation of drone technologies in smart cities. Manuscripts exploring related themes, such as urban logistics, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure development, are also welcome.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
