Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The health sciences incorporate everything related to functional foods, drugs, supplements, nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and products for personal well-being.

New market trends demonstrate that the attention paid to natural substances contained in foods, vegetables, and by-products of the agri-food industry as a source of bioactive molecules has grown, alongside the awareness of the relationship between these molecules and health.

The aim of this Special Issue is to explore recent developments in innovative materials and engineering processes related to food, cosmetic, and drug sciences. Our focus is on medical devices, functional foods, and natural remedies for traditional and innovative clinical uses.

Overall, this Issue will address several questions, such as: What are the new matrices? What are the latest extraction techniques? Which innovative and sustainable extraction procedures are used in nutraceuticals and functional foods? What formulations are used for cosmeceuticals? Which pathologies benefit from their use? What scientific evidence is available to support current health claims?

The international scientific community is invited to contribute to the understanding of changes in the mentioned sectors by submitting research that highlights recent advances in nutraceutical and cosmeceutical science in relation to health products.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
