Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The superfamily Apoidea, encompassing bees and their relatives, represents a critical group within the Hymenoptera order, integral to pollination and ecosystem functioning. As one of the most ecologically and economically significant groups of insects, Apoidea exhibit an extraordinary diversity in morphology, behavior, and evolutionary history. Despite their importance, there remains substantial potential for new discoveries and advancements in our understanding of their biology and management.
We are pleased to announce this Special Issue entitled “Apoidea Biology, Evolution and Management”, which aims to provide a comprehensive overview of current research on this fascinating superfamily. This Special Issue seeks to explore the multifaceted aspects of Apoidea, from their evolutionary trajectories to their roles in ecosystems and strategies for their management.
We invite original research articles and reviews that address a broad spectrum of topics related to Apoidea. Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Evolutionary Biology: Investigations into the phylogenetic relationships and evolutionary history of Apoidea, including molecular and morphological analyses.
- Systematics: Studies that refine our understanding of bee classifications, the discovery of new species, and revisions of existing taxonomic frameworks.
- Ecology: Research on the ecological roles of bees, their interactions with plants and other organisms.
- Conservation and Management: Strategies for the conservation of bee species, including habitat management, the impact of environmental changes, and approaches for sustaining pollinator populations.
- Applied Research: Insights into the use of bees in agriculture, including their role in crop pollination and the development of integrated pest management practices.
This Special Issue aims to bring together a diverse array of perspectives and methodologies to advance our understanding of Apoidea and address the challenges they face. We encourage contributions that employ innovative approaches and contribute to both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Diversity is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
