Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to announce a Special Issue titled "Fractional Order Mechatronics" in the journal of Fractal and Fractional. This Issue aims to bring together recent advancements in the application of fractional calculus in mechatronic systems, which has shown great potential in enhancing the performance, robustness, and accuracy of modern mechatronic devices.
Fractional calculus, which involves derivatives and integrals of non-integer orders, offers a more flexible mathematical framework compared to traditional integer-order methods. It has been increasingly applied to various areas of mechatronics, including control systems, robotics, actuators, sensors, and signal processing, enabling improved modeling, control, and optimization.
We invite original research articles, comprehensive reviews, and case studies that demonstrate the integration of fractional-order methods in mechatronics. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Fractional-order control in robotics and automation;
- Modeling of fractional-order mechatronic systems;
- Applications in actuators, sensors, and signal processing;
- Stability analysis and optimization of fractional-order mechatronic devices;
- Real-world case studies demonstrating fractional-order techniques.
This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for researchers and practitioners to share their latest findings and innovative applications, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in this rapidly growing field.
We look forward to your valuable contributions to this exciting endeavor.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Fractal and Fractional is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
