Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
There are recent advances in the understanding of the risks of acute pancreatitis that are both age-dependent and gender-specific. Further, there have been advances in the measurement of severity of the disease and management that are mostly focused on the adult population. Although there are several agents that have been shown to attenuate the key pathologic responses of pancreatitis, these agents for the most part have been slow to enter clinical practice.
This Special Issue is devoted to articles that review key diagnostic, management and/or treatment strategies in acute pancreatitis. Importantly, articles that address age and gender differences and provide insights for opportunities to address unmet needs and opportunities to improve outcome are highly encouraged.
