Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Introduction
This Special Issue of Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Analyses (JETA) focuses on the development of advanced materials for innovative batteries and other conversion/storage/processing devices involving electrochemical processes. The description of the characterization methods employed to study these types of electrochemical devices is also another major focus of this Special Issue of JETA. With the growing demand for efficient and sustainable energy storage and rational electrical power redistribution, the research and development of advanced electroactive materials have become increasingly important. The Special Issue aims to present the latest research and innovations in the field of electrochemical conversion/storage and features contributions from leading researchers and practitioners.
Section 1: Advanced Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage/Conversion Devices and Sustainable Processing
This section covers the latest developments in advanced materials for electrochemical devices for energy storage/conversion and processing. The papers in this section focus on the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel materials, including but not limited to metal oxides, nanocomposites, and polymers, for use in the various electrochemical applications of interest. The contributions will provide insights into the structure–property relationships of these materials and their electrochemical performance.
Section 2: Characterization Methods
This section covers the various characterization methods used to study materials in devices for energy storage/conversion and processing, which are based on electrochemical phenomena. The papers in this section will focus on the development of advanced characterization techniques, including but not limited to X-ray diffraction, electron and scanning probe microscopy, and spectroscopy, to understand the structure, composition, physicochemical, and electrochemical properties of materials including in in situ and in operando conditions. The contributions will present studies on the understanding of the actual behavior of the electroactive materials through advanced characterization methods (possibly in the multiscale modality and with a correlative/multiparametric approach) in the devices of interest during operation.
Section 3: Innovative Battery Technologies
This section will be entirely dedicated to the latest developments in innovative battery technologies. In particular, the papers in this section will focus on the design, fabrication, and testing of novel battery architectures, including solid-state batteries, flow batteries, and sodium-ion batteries. The contributions must provide insights into the general performance, chemical and physical stability, and safety of these innovative technologies highlighting their potential applications in the possible fields of application.
Conclusion
This Special Issue of JETA will present the latest developments in the research on advanced materials for the electrochemical devices that are employed in energy storage/conversion and processing. A specific focus of the Issue is the description of the characterization methods employed in the study of the electrochemical devices of interest. Among the various electrochemical devices, special attention will be dedicated to innovative batteries and related technologies. In the latter case, the contributions will mostly provide insight into the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel materials for innovative and non-conventional battery technologies. In conclusion, it is expected that this Special Issue of JETA will serve as a valuable resource for researchers and practitioners in the field of materials science for the electrochemical applications of major interest in the present time.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Analyses is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1000 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
