Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Treatment options for obesity have grown over the past few decades, with the advent of newer metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS), endoscopic procesures, and medications.

Currently, the most effective treatment is MBS, resulting in long-term risk reduction in obesity-associated morbidity and mortality. However, outcomes of MBS differ among patients, as some do not achieve satisfactory clinical response, while others may suffer from complications that will necessitate further treatment.

In the past, patients were provided limited treatment options, mainly depending on availability at different medical centers and expertise.

Over the years, it became clearer that that the choice of treatment should be personalized according to the grade of obesity, medical history, obesity-related medical problems, eating habits, prior treatment effects including weight recurrence and complications, etc.

This Special Issue aims to broaden the informed-choice of treatment of obesity and MBS- related complications.

We are looking for original articles and review articles that compare different treatment modalities or MBS types and investigate predictors of satisfactory outcomes in the primary, revision, and conversion stages. We also encourage the submission of other articles on technical differences for specific MBS that can change the outcomes depending on individual patients' characteristics.
