Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Marine organisms represent a treasure trove in the discovery of novel natural products, and, thus, marine natural products have been a key focus for researchers for decades. Special attention has been given to algae and microalgae (both eucaryotic and prokaryotic), which are well known for containing numerous bioactive molecules, including sulfated polysaccharides, polyphenols, sterols, pigments, peptides and proteins, and polyunsaturated fatty acids, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, which are of the great interest in the cosmetic industry. However, other marine organisms, such as bacteria, fungi, and invertebrates, have also been explored in the search for revolutionary bioactive molecules for skincare.
This Special Issue will cover the most recent advances in the field of marine resource research and outline how these approaches are contributing to defining innovative trends in marine cosmeceutical formulations for skin health-promoting activities. The Editors invite submissions in the form of original research articles or reviews.
