Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Hydrogen technologies are poised to play a key role in advancing the ongoing energy transition to enable timely, unified global-scale climate action. The significant development in fuel cells and electrolyzers in the last three decades has led to the commercialization of these. While cost and supply-chain issues need to be resolved, these technologies continue to evolve as novel research solutions emerge. New concepts, alternative electrocatalysts, hybrid materials and components, and an enhanced understanding of reaction mechanisms through research at the interface of computational chemistry, nanoscience, and nanotechnology continue to underpin the progress in hydrogen technologies. The translation and adoption of these for stationary and mobile applications beyond road transport also requires continued research in system development and integration. Additionally, research is ongoing on hydrogen carriers, which is essential to resolving supply-chain issues related to storage, transportation, and production costs associated with scale-up.

This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for a broad range of topics essential to understanding the advances in the field of hydrogen energy and fuel cells in the context of the ongoing international energy transition.

Researchers and scholars are invited to submit their latest original research, reviews, and perspectives in this multi-disciplinary field encompassing low- and high-temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers, novel materials and hybrid components, diagnostics and testing, synthesis of hydrogen carriers, and applications.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
