Dear Colleagues,
In addition to its vast benefits, industrial development has resulted in several associated environmental issues. Increasing environmental pollution caused by chemical and pharmaceutical industries, related to the use of toxic chemicals and high energy consumption, has led to a greater focus on green chemistry. In recent years, green chemistry has obtained the status of a major scientific discipline, as most chemists consider the basic principles in the development of novel synthetic procedures. Most of these principles can be addressed using catalysis, thus requiring less energy, residues, and toxic materials, and resulting in increased selectivity and a higher atom economy. Besides metal catalysis, organocatalysis, and biocatalysis, in the last two decades, photoredox catalysis has emerged as a novel strategy to achieve efficient and sustainable catalysis.
The aim of this Special Issue is to provide an overview of the recent advances in catalysis for the development of more sustainable processes, including the development of more efficient catalytic procedures, the discovery of greener catalysts, and the use of environmentally benign solvents.

Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Molecules is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
