Dear Colleagues,
Plants must develop chemical-defense metabolites in order to survive in unfavorable conditions. These chemical-defense metabolites can be resistance against environmental factors. Therefore, the induction of defense metabolite compounds (such as pigment contents, phenols, flavonoids, anthocyanin's, carotenes, alkaloids, proline, sugars, cellulose, and chlorophyll, and non-enzymatic antioxidants and any other substances) or antioxidant enzymes (such as peroxidases, catalase, super oxide dismutase, poly phenol oxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione-S- transeferase, ascorbate reductase, and any other antioxidant enzymes), molecular responses, and genetic modifications in plants may involve intolerance and act as defense mechanisms against them. The defense mechanism is both an innate and a systemic response. Following the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and oxidative bursts, stresses are limited. All of these changes result in the synthesis and accumulation of some secondary metabolite compounds, as well as some enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants in plants, occurred in the regulation of plant osmosis and the improvement of plant growth.
Therefore, we would like to invite researchers from a large number of regions and countries to submit papers presenting options for analyzing plant metabolites and antioxidant compounds and enzyme activity in plants, based either on biotechnical or multidisciplinary research, for publication in this Special Issue. All types of articles, such as original research, opinions, short communications, and reviews, either mono- or multidisciplinary, are welcome.
