Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

As manufacturing techniques implement their capabilities, the role and application fields of nanostructured material in everyday life are becoming increasingly important. In parallel, the control of the as-produced nanomaterial properties, such as chemical composition, structural arrangement, size distribution, and stability over time, are fundamental parameters which need to be controlled in order to guarantee both the reproducibility of a synthesis method and the quality of the products.

So far, X-ray absorption spectroscopy is among the better, if not best, techniques to use for these purposes, thanks to its chemical selectivity, applicability to solid, liquid, or gaseous samples, and capability to provide either bulk or surface information, depending on the experimental setup.    

The present Special Issue of Nanomaterials is aimed at presenting comprehensive research outlining the characterization of cutting-edge nanostructured materials, investigated by means of X-rays spectroscopies, for various applications ranging from catalysis to environmental and biomedical applications.

We invite authors from leading groups in the field to contribute original research articles and reviews with the aim of giving a complete overview of the current state-of-the-art in nanostructures characterization.     

In this Topic, original research articles and reviews are welcome. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Characterization of innovative nanomaterials;
  2. Operando XAS investigations;
  3. Metal nanoparticles synthesis methods;
  4. Micro-XRF imaging studies;
  5. Multi-technique approaches.

Nanomaterials is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
