Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Nanocrystalline semiconductor photocatalysis schemes as the most advanced photocatalysts for environmental remedial procedures, such as water purification, heavy metal degradation, air purification, and hazardous waste remediation have been widely investigated lately; this is owing to their high functionality and non-secondary pollution .It is of interest for both fundamental and applied research to study the impacts of impurities on the physical features of a semiconductor. In semiconductor photocatalysts, doping lanthanide ions with 4f electron configurations also might enhance the split-up rate of photo-induced charge transferors and boost considerably the activity of photocatalyst. Also, nanohybrid composites with various metal contents have been broadly studied as the most promising photocatalyst for environmental and hazardous waste remediation processes.

In addition, expanding number of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently been identified as a new generation of emerging porous photocatalysts in photocatalysis, since their intrinsic coordination structure between the metal cluster and organic ligands offers MOFs great flexibility to tune their semiconducting property for enhanced light harvesting. In order to improve their performance substantially and achieve widespread application of MOF photocatalysts, it is necessary to develop effective synthesis strategies and understand their semiconducting crystal structure, photocatalytic mechanism in depth.
