3D (three-dimensional) printing technique can be used in biomedical applications to reproduce suitable native tissues by using natural biopolymers. Biopolymers have been used to prepare potent hydrogel ink (additive). Their rheological properties have been improved by the addition of viscous polymers, such as: modified biopolymers and nanomaterials in order to obtain suitable physiological stability (dynamic state of living organisms) and for the attainment of high shape fidelity of the 3D printable biomaterials. Besides, natural biopolymers can form potent physical and chemical crosslinking interactions in biomaterials/bio-ink and improve the mechanical integrity/properties of the ink in order to form suitable hydrogels for tissue engineering in the healthcare environment.
This special issue will address the formation of innovative biomaterials/bio-ink hydrogels with nanomaterials for 3D printing biomaterials for use in advanced medical applications, such as: drug delivery, electronic skin, cartilage, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, nanomedicine, wound dressing, other biomedical applications, etc.. The main aim is to share new technologies for new generations.

Polymers is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
