Welcome to the Special Issue titled “Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage: Materials, Processes and Technologies!”
This Special Issue serves as a crucial platform for researchers, scientists, and industry professionals to share their latest advancements and insights in CCUS technologies. We invite contributions across a broad spectrum of topics, including the following:
- Innovative Materials: Exploration of novel materials and catalysts for efficient CO2 capture and storage, including porous materials, adsorbents, and membranes.
- Advanced Capture Processes: Development of cutting-edge capture technologies, such as post-combustion, pre-combustion, and oxy-fuel combustion methods, with a focus on enhancing capture efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
- Utilization Innovations: Examination of innovative approaches to utilizing captured CO2, including its conversion into valuable products such as chemicals, fuels, and building materials, as well as biological and mineral carbonation techniques.
- Safe and Sustainable Storage: Evaluation of safe and sustainable storage solutions for CO2, including geological, oceanic, and terrestrial storage options, with a particular emphasis on long-term stability and environmental impact.
- Integration and Optimization Strategies: Strategies for integrating CCUS technologies into existing industrial processes, as well as optimization techniques to enhance overall system efficiency and economic viability.
- Policy, Economics, and Environmental Implications: Analysis of policy frameworks, economic incentives, and environmental considerations surrounding the deployment of CCUS technologies, with a view to informing decision-making and shaping future regulatory frameworks.
We welcome submissions of original research articles, reviews, perspectives, and technical notes that contribute to advancing our understanding and implementation of CCUS technologies. All submissions will undergo rigorous peer review to ensure the highest scientific quality and relevance to the theme of this Special Issue.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Processes is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
