Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The multi-element analysis of samples, especially those with complex matrices, is not an easy task and arouses researchers' interest constantly. Although atomic and mass detection methods such as FAAS, ETAAS, AFS, ICP OES, and ICP-MS are standardly used tools for the determination of elements in various samples, the development and validation of dependable methods, combined with adequate sample preparation procedures, are still necessary. According to the current idea of improvement in sample pretreatment before analysis, alternative (simple and fast) methodologies at the sample preparation step that could avoid or minimize any inconvenience associated with traditional sample digestion on the one side and guarantee obtaining reliable results on the other side are strongly desirable.

In view of this, the present Special Issue is dedicated to analytical chemists focused on the determination of major, minor, and trace elements in samples with different matrices using spectrometric techniques. Newly developed and validated elemental analysis methods are particularly welcome. Scientific areas to be covered by this Special Issue may include (but are not limited to) the following topics: i) multi-element analysis of various samples including food, environmental, industrial, or biological materials; ii) speciation and/or fractionation of elements using chromatographic and non-chromatographic approaches; iii) sample preparation procedures before spectrometric measurements with special attention to alternative, “green”, methodologies; iv) improvements in the single and/or simultaneous determination of elements using spectrometric techniques (including hyphenated systems); and v) method development, validation, verification, and application to real samples

Original research papers covering all the above mentioned topics are highly welcome to me submitted to this Special Issue.
