Dear Colleagues,
Robots are becoming part of people's everyday social lives. In future years, robots may become caretaking assistants for the elderly, academic tutors for our children, or medical assistants, day care assistants, or psychological counsellors. Robots are, or soon will be, used in such critical domains as search and rescue, military battle, mine and bomb detection, scientific exploration, law enforcement, and hospital care. Such robots must coordinate their behaviors with the requirements and expectations of human team members; they are more than mere tools but rather quasi-team members whose tasks have to be integrated with those of humans. Human factors in human–robot interaction (HRI) such as comfort and trust are critical to enable high-quality human–robot teamwork.
This Special Issue intends to collect and publish high quality papers as well as review articles discussing and addressing the design, development, and application of human factors related research questions in HRI. Studies which focus on computational modeling and socially interactive robots in different methodological roles to explore questions about social development with robots including, but not limited to, psychology, cognitive science, HCI, human factors, artificial intelligence, and robotics, are welcome to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Robotics is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
