Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The Fourth Industrial Revolution represents a fundamental change in the way we live, work, and relate to one another. It is a new chapter in human development, enabled by technological advances that are commensurate with those of the First, Second, and Third Industrial Revolutions. Moreover, these profound changes are possible due to recent developments in the field of metrology, sensors, and instrumentation. Currently, the monitoring and the control of remote physical phenomena require the development of new sensors, acquisition techniques, data analysis, new architecture for data acquisition systems, and so on.
This Special Issue aims to collect new papers dealing with a variety of topics, including innovations in localization technologies, smart manufacturing, the integration of physical and digital systems, real-time big data processing, the flexible management of automated production lines, and predictive maintenance. There will be a focus on non-invasive diagnostic techniques; status monitoring; fault detection; reliability assessments; sensors and technologies used to monitor human performance and physiological parameters, including early detection approaches, scalable solutions, and biomarkers; novel sensing solutions and performance assessment in medical applications, including wearable devices; flexible/soft and 3D-printed sensors; innovative manufacturing technologies for health monitoring, agriculture, and food safety; and applications of wired and wireless technologies in IoT, metrology, network optimization, and security.
The authors of papers presented at the 7th edition of IEEE Metrology for industry 4.0 and IoT related to sensors, signal acquisition, IoT, and monitoring devices are invited to submit extended versions of their work to this Special Issue for publication. Researchers who did not participate in the conference are also encouraged to submit papers.

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sensors is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
