Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
In recent years, trade policy reforms and changes in the structure of protection have become increasingly contentious, so that detailed trade policy information and quantitative analysis are more necessary now than they have ever been.
The aim of this Special Issue is to assess the effectiveness of important European Union trade policies and the factors which may reduce or enhance them.
The new evidence generated on the impact of EU trade policies and the recent advancement of gravity models, often referred to as the workhorse in international trade, to assess the implications of trade policies are more easily available well beyond the boundaries of the scientific community.
This Special Issue in an open access journal intends to reach the relevant actors involved in trade policy design and implementation in the public sector and policy makers, as well as all stakeholders potentially interested in the results. Nevertheless, the target readership of the Special Issue is even broader, as it aims to provide a valuable tool for graduate teaching and for students with an interest in trade policy and in the gravity models.
The results of this Special Issue will serve to debunk some of the most widespread criticisms of EU trade policy. In addition, the research papers in this issue will critically review recent developments and make suggestions for promising future research.
