Dear Colleagues,
Monkeypox disease has received some increased attention in the United States recently. This special issue will review the epidemiology, clinical manifestations in animals and humans, molecular biology of the virus, and vaccine considerations, including mechanisms of action, adverse effects, as well as the status of new and proposed vaccines. The current animal vectors and clinical trial data in humans will be reviewed.
In this Special Issue, original research articles, reviews, as well as significant case reports are welcome. Research areas may include (but not limited to) the following:
- Monkeypox virus
- Monkeypox disease
- Animal vectors
- Molecular biology of the virus
- Vaccine mechanisms of action

Manuscript Submission Information

For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Vaccines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
