- Psychological control negatively predicted emotional intelligence (β = −0.29, p < 0.001). Autonomy support positively predicted emotional intelligence (β = 0.50, p < 0.001).

- Emotional intelligence positively predicted SDI (β = 0.62, p < 0.05), negatively predicted anxiety (β = −0.34, p < 0.001), and, finally, positively predicted self-esteem (β = 0.83, p < 0.01).
