DC | Dynamic capability | This variable takes the value of 1 for sustainable competitive advantage firms (higher dynamic capability, HDC) with a competitive situation index higher than the mean of the same industry for three consecutive years. It takes the value of −1 (lower dynamic capability, LDC) for firms lacking competitive advantages with a competitive situation index lower than the mean of the same industry for three consecutive years. It takes the value of 0 for the remaining sample firms, which are general firms (common dynamic capability, CDC). The annual sustained competitive advantage index for each firm consists of three indicators (i.e., the excess ROE, operating income growth rate, and market capitalization) by using the principal component analysis method. | Worldscope |
