Partnering for Sustainability: Parent-Teacher-School (PTS) Interactions in the Qatar Education System
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
- This article uses the Qatar education system as an example to explore the partnership between parents, teachers, and schools, in order to clarify the current status of parental involvement, needs, and methods and means for improvement. This article uses qualitative research methods, mainly interviewing teachers, administrators and parents of four schools. The interviewees are 21 teachers and 15 female parents.
- The materials after the interview were deconstructed, explained and reconstructed in a grounded theoretical approach, and open decoding and categories were established. From the results of the final collation, the meaning and understanding of parental involvement, current practices, challenges and limitations, and improvement needs and suggestions are sorted out. The opinions of the interviewees are cited as evidence to make the explanation quite vivid.
- From the method of design thinking, this article sorts out 7 suggestions for improvement, which are of practical reference value.
- Two of the interviewed schools are high-performance schools and two are low-performance schools. However, this article does not distinguish between the two in terms of parental involvement in different situations or performances. This is where the suggestions can be supplemented.

Dear authors, First of all, thank you very much for your proposal and for the work you have done. In general terms, I think it is a work that addresses an important and interesting topic. Secondly, I would like to point out that I think there are several points of improvement to address related to research design and methodology. - From reading the paper it is not clear to me the literature review process that has been carried out. - The table "Participants' Demographic Characteristics: Teachers" I think should be converted into descriptive type graphs. - It is mentioned that a qualitative analysis was carried out, but it is not clear which programme was used for this. Thank you very much for your work.
