The article „Simulation method to assess thermal comfort in historical buildings with high-volume interior spaces: the case of the Gothic Basilica of Sta. Maria del Mar in Barcelona“ it has a certain scientific value. However, some improvement is needed. In the following paragraphs I present a few observations that should be taken into account in the revised version of manuscript.

 

Section “Abstract”:

- The abstract needs to be shortened and sharpened. Remove the ballast.
- at the end of the abstract there is no clearer assessment of the global impact conclusion

Section “Introduction”:

- research hypotheses are missing at the end of the introduction. It is necessary to set hypotheses as it is standard in scientific work. Hypotheses need to be verified or refuted in conclusions.

Section “Methods”:

- recommend complementing the statistical analysis of research data in the research. The statistical analysis will further enhance the research results. Statistical analysis should be part of every scientific work.
- were the data examined for normality? Statistical methods are chosen accordingly. It needs to be added
- it is necessary to add what has been compared in more detail so that the methodology can be applied purely in the future
- to characterize what hypothesis was verified by what statistical method

Section “conclusion”:

- part of the conclusion is completely absent. It is necessary to add "conclusions".

- separate the conclusion section from the discussion

- the established hypotheses need to be upheld.
-the conclusion is to be conceived both locally and globally
General comments:

- There are few literary sources at work. To strengthen it, I propose to broaden the foundations by comparing them with other work in this area.

- the discussion needs to be completed to have a global reach

- In the discussion I recommend to discuss with already published articles in "this journal" and etc. journals, especially with those dealing with similar issues. For example, these and more:

doi: 10.1080/09603123.2017.1373276; https://doi.org/10.1016/j.buildenv.2006.04.027; DOI: 10.3763/aber.2008.0206;  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.enbuild.2019.06.006 and etc.

- The presented article lacks research limitations and possible future visions. Research limitations and possible visions for the future should be noted.

- the list of literature and the reference to literature in the text is not prepared according to the standards of journal. It is necessary to study the guidelines and adjust it accordingly

I suggest major revision. After removing the shortcomings, I would like to re-examine the manuscript and reconsider my position.

I have reviewed the paper titled “Simulation method to assess thermal comfort in historical buildings with high-volume interior spaces: the case of the Gothic Basilica of Sta. Maria del Mar in Barcelona”. The paper presents good readability e has a good overall structure. Method and results are presented quite comprehensively. Some consideration about conservation of cultural heritage present in the basilica can be added. Some indications are reported directly in the file attached.

The research topic is necessary and important for the preservation of the heritage of historic buildings. Thermal comfort in heritage buildings is a problem in winter. The literature review should be expanded on this issue. It is also necessary to add a final point - conclusion.
