Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The topic of the research is based on a well-developed and highly detailed analysis, which the authors present in an extensive analysis. Graphical analyzes and matrices provide a good understanding of the logic of the study.

Authors should definitely rethink the title. The first part of the sentence is very general, it would be worth focusing on the title "Wu style of traditional Chinese architecture". Spatial analysis as a methodology should be included in the subtitle rather because it is less informative. Its wording is based on general conceptual formulas.

More in-depth and meaningful conclusions can be drawn. It should also be more focused on the analysis of regionalism (already in the title). After referring to Mumford in the chapter, the article only focuses on Chinese research, so it would be worthwhile to make the chapter more focused.

In the last chapter (Discussion), the results should be evaluated in a cultural context, in line with local traditions. All this can also add to the interpretation and contemporary adaptation of regionalism.

Reviewer 2 Report

  1.  The arguments appear sometimes too fragmented and this does not help the clarity of the text.
  2. How were the case studies selected?
  3. Figures 4 and 7 could be summarized in a single image.
  4. In the Figure 4 the sentence "Wu style architecture has" seems incomplete.
  5. In lines 302-306, the explanation of the symbols should be placed directly in Fig. 5.
  6. The Wu style residential buildings case studies are not related to the context and orientation.
  7. The paper would benefit from the inclusion of plans of the buildings with indicated the functions of the rooms, and not only the macro areas Interior, Gray space and Exterior.
  8. Figures 10-13 lack explanations of symbols.
  9. In Fig. 14: legend or key is more suitable?
