Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

There should be no abbreviation "NPP" in the title of the article, it is necessary to write the full title for the first time
To tab. 1 it is necessary to complete the column where the scale will be indicated.
Line 392 “The Master Plan of Beijing (2016-2035)” has been in force for 5 years Is the development of the territory implemented according to the plan?
How was the construction for the Winter Olympics incorporated into the scenarios?
How can the baseline scenario (d) and ecological protection scenario (f) be exactly the same imperious surface area (26.42%) in Figure 4?
There is a minimum of work in the discussion outside the SE and V Asia, I recommend adding e.g.:

The authors presented an analysis and the projection of Land Use changes in the city of Beijing. The manuscript is well prepared and deals with an interesting topic. The methodology used is clearly described and the results are reported in a very comprehensive manner. This research work will greatly contribute to the discussions about the land use transformations and their impacts on sustainable development goals achievement. However, the authors need to improve the manuscript before it could be considered for publication. Below are some comments and suggestions

Line 2: In the title, I think it could be more appropriate to use “net primary productivity” rather than using its abbreviations.

Lines 54-59: Please check English.

Lines 31-96: The authors should introduce the kind of the data they used to evaluate the future land use at 30m spatial resolution

Line 135: Since DEM was used as the main source of data for more driving forces (Slope, Aspect), the author should provide more description about ASTER DEM image used (such time of acquisition, spatial resolution, product version, and projection system), the link provided does not contain any details.

Review on the paper entitled “Impacts of land use changes on NPP in urban agglomerations under multi-scenarios simulation”.

This paper applies a patch-generating land use simulation model for the multi-scenario simulation of urban agglomerations and mathematical analysis methods to study the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of net primary productivity (NPP) for impact of land use changes on NPP in urban agglomerations between 2000 and 2020 and to forecast the future trend of NPP.

I consider the paper to be a high-quality research material. The paper is well-organized, the research questions are clearly articulated, the methodology is nicely presented, the datasets are impressive, and the quality of the images is high as well.

I have only one comment that the authors should address:

As I wrote above, the paper is of high quality, this are no doubts about this issue. What I miss the paper are some thoughts about how the results could be put in a larger geographical context and what cities in China and across the world can learn from the case of Beijing. A paragraph dealing with this issue might increase the value of the paper and would be important to the international readership of the journal.

The authors accepted all comments and supplemented the text in accordance with the comments. I recommend publishing.

Author Response

Thank you very much for your kindly recommendation!

Reviewer 2 Report

The authors still need to improve the manuscript especially on the description of the dataset  and also by providing references for some values they included in the manuscript.

Below are some comments and suggestions to improve the overall quality of the manuscript:

Lines 123-124: The link provided is in Chinese language, please provide references (in English) which have described this “global LULC (land use/land cover) product”.

Line 126: “… and OLI multispectral images of Landsat (USA)…” Please rephrase this statement. Because you have to specify which Landsat satellite has OLI instrument: Landsat 8. In addition, you added (USA), which not appropriate at least you should add U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) which distributes images of Landsat program.

Lines 129-130: Please provide references of the studies which have evaluated the accuracy of this data (GlobeLand30)

Lines 148-150: the authors should differentiate: Spatial resolution and the scale”. In the Table 1, 30 m for ASTER GDEM is the spatial resolution not the scale. Please change this, and make sure for author driving forces indicated in this Table.

Line 151: Please provide more description on MODIS data or provide the references.

Line 118-159: Please improve the description of the dataset.

Line 33: Please refer to: “(1) Randazzo, G.; Cascio, M.; Fontana, M.; Gregorio, F.; Lanza, S.; Muzirafuti, A. Mapping of Sicilian Pocket Beaches Land Use/Land Cover with Sentinel-2 Imagery: A Case Study of Messina Province. Land 202110, 678. https://doi.org/10.3390/land10070678”,  “ (2) Kim, J.H.; Park, S.; Kim, S.H.; Lee, E.J.
