Variability Management in Dynamic Software Product Lines for Self-Adaptive Systems—A Systematic Mapping
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The topic of the paper seems interesting and focused on dynamic software product lines for self-adaptive systems. The paper conducted a systematic mapping, introduction part is relevant and theory-based. Sufficient information about the previous study findings is presented for readers to follow the present study rationale and procedures to develop the relationship between the software product lines and dynamic software product lines. Since the author used the MAPE-K control loop, I would recommend adding another similar approach in order to make a comparison of the findings if possible.

The paper studied a systematic mapping studies on variability management in Dynamic Software Product Lines (DSPLs) for Self-Adaptive Systems (SASs) from 2010.
Number of selected articles is 84 that met the planed investigational criteria.
The authors defined three research questions to summarize the proposals according to approaches to manage runtime variability, the methodology used to manage the DSPLs environment, and the current challenges generated by that application.
The paper is understandable, well-structured and sufficiently detailed.
However, some format correction would improve the quality of paper:
1. Coloring of figures should be corrected, because in case of black and white printing of paper figures become unreadable and not understandable.
2. I suggest using section Acronyms for explanation of acronyms.
3. The rows in the tables should be separated for better clarity.

This is a very good and useful bibliographic study of the state of the art dedicated to DSPLs. The study is well conducted and well structured.
The summary needs to be slightly revised: make sentences
