Title: Nutritional composition, bioactive compounds and functional evaluation of various parts of Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp
Comments and Suggestions for Authors
This study reported the basic nutritional composition and biological functions in leaves, seeds and roots of Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp were evaluated. Three different extracting mixture were select for evaluation of the antioxidant, hypoglycemic and antibacterial activities, with a view to propose C. cajan (L.) Millsp extract as health product. Find my comments below:
Affiliations:
-line 6-11; review this part adding the missing information (such as abbreviations of names)
Introduction: The introduction section needs to be expanded, and the aim must be clearly stated in the last part of this section. Cajanus cajan (L.) could be reported in full name only the first time and then in their abbreviation form C. cajan (L.).
-line 35-37; remove the bold from the font.
Materials and methods: The methods must be explained in a clear and detailed manner in order to facilitate repeatability by other researchers.
Please add the chemicals and reagents paragraph in the section materials and methods.
-line 61; report the name (S. aureus, E. coli, P. gingivalis and S. mutans) in full and also in italic;
-line 61-68; detail the activation of bacterial species;
-line 72-73; report the weight of powder sample used in the extraction process;
-line 121; change 2M NaOH as NaOH 2M;
-line 124; What does the blank sample consist of?
-line 132; How was the IC50 calculated?
-line 139-141; again explain in detail the determination of the MIC.
Results:
-Table 1. Crude fat (g) for leaves (0.00) change as ND. In addition, divide the micronutrients from the macronutrients in the table by placing a line above.
Discussion:
-line 268, 271, 285, 288, 291, 298; remove the year in the bracket; follow the instruction for authors (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/agriculture/instructions);
Conclusions could be ameliorated.

We now have added the missing information in MS.
|
We add an author (Chen-I Chen) who provides C. cajan samples.

Reviewer 2 Report
The subject of this study is of interest and correct introduced, and the discussion is detailed, well documented and interesting. However it is minor concerns about the presentation of the obtained data:
Abstract:
General: Passive sentences should be preferred
Materials and methods:
General remark relates to the unknown regarding the origin and cultivation of the analyzed sample and the inclusion of only one sample in the study. Some additional information needs to be listed: the geographical origin of the sample, the basic characteristics of the climate, the type of soil, etc., indicating the Institution which provided the sample.
Line 73- The powder was extracted in a ratio of 1:20 with hot water at a temperature of 98 ËšC for 3 h and with 50% and 90% ethanol by soaking at room temperature for 72 h.
Results:
Line 152-…of magnesium (138.8 and 130.0 mg/100g, respectively) and calcium (581 and 597 mg/100g, respectively)
Table 1:
Add statistical significance between L, S and R for listed parameters
Add as last row Total under L, S and R – as in Table 2
Table2:
Add statistical significance between L, S and R for listed parameters
Add Total of BCAA amino acids under L, S and R
Table 3:
In Yields column – subscript a is missing – significant difference
Line 217 – space - and α-amylase activities
Table 7. Move subscript 4 to 303±12d
Line 224 – space AGEs;3
Line 226 – space-(means±SD, n=3)
Discussion:
Add a few recent references to the research topic

1.We have added the resource information about C. cajan.
2. We have corrected this mistake as following: Dried roots, leaf and seeds of C. cajan (500 g) were extracted with 1:20 ratio (w/v) of 98±2 ℃ hot water (10 L)……… |
