Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The paper introduces vibration analysis on a vehicle that actually proves to be little studied. The authors clearly focus and report the research. English needs to be reviewed. I report some notes to check.

Row 79

The tests were conducted on different typical road surfaces,

R. This sentence is chapter 2.2, then please delete “typical” and describe the road surfaces type, I suggest to delete the sentence because already reported in chapter 2.2.

Row 93

The primary objective is to evaluate the impact of various speeds and operational types on machine vibrations during standard road operations.

R. I suppose that there’s a secondary objective, so I suggest to describe as first the different objectives of the research and then the detail of the primary objective. Moreover I didn’t find the description of a second objective in the text. Please check and delete or complete

Row 134-137

The coefficient, denoted as' g ', represents the ratio of the vertical vibration curve to the horizontal vibration curve within the most sensitive frequency range for the human body. This relationship underscores that the human body exhibits greater sensitivity and reduced tolerance to horizontal vibrations in comparison to vertical vibrations. Conventionally,' g 'is set to 1.4.

R. I think you mean the adoption of ISO 2631. Please pay attention, the coefficient is 1.4 only for x and y axis (not z) and only when adopted alone, only x and/or only y. This is not clearly reported in the paper, please check ISO 2631. If you use equation 2 the value is g=1 for the 3 axis. With this aim, please check the results of figure 5. Following ISO 2631 figure 5(a) g=1.4;  figure 5(b) g=1.4; figure 5(c) g=1 figure 5(d) g=1 for all the three axis of equation 2. Please clarify in material and methods.

If you adopt other values of g, please detail and specify why.

It is clear that the text has been revised but many inaccuracies and errors remain, including those of technical type

In this study, taking the Yanmar VPG6G rice transplanter across diverse terrains as an example,  the vibrational characteristics of power chassis was elucidated in paddy fields, including paddy fields, dry land, and concrete roads. Overall, the topic of this work is interesting. However, to meet the standard of Agriculture, English must be improved throughout the text. Besides, the manuscript needs to address the following issues.

Lines38-54 The  importance  and thus significance of work has not been properly justified in the background introduction. In addition, the author have analyzed generally research status about the influence of structural configuration, operational environment, and working conditions on vibration characteristics. Obviously, the limitation of presented researches need to be analyzed deeply, which is helpful for highlighting the innovation of this work.

Line 116  What is the ‘the most representative dataset’? please explanation

The authors are encouraged to discuss the limitations of their study and make recommendations for further studies on this topic.

The authors are encouraged to improve the quality of all figures in the manuscript.

English must be improved throughout the text.

The paper is concerned with the analysis of the vibrations of a vehicle travelling on different grounds. In my opinion, the different grounds should be characterised by the frequency spectrum of the excitations for a given value of the vehicle speed. This is missing in the paper. There is no identification of the excitations acting on the vehicle from the ground (the ground on which the vehicle is moving). In the Introduction section, the use of the frequency analysis method should be briefly mentioned, as this method is quite popular and well suited to analyse the results presented in the paper. It is essential to explain why the vehicle has been modelled with a single-mass system. Why it is not a multi-mass system, in which the engine and accessories are susceptibly connected to the vehicle frame and are separate masses. Explain why the vehicle suspension has been modelled with linear damping elements to the exclusion of stiffness. Detailed comments in the text of the manuscript.
