Thank you for your insightful feedbacks on my manuscript “The Translation of Buddhism in the Funeral Architecture of Medieval China.” I made the following revisions according to your comments and suggestions:

I added add some key authoritative sources in English, German, French, and Japanese, for instance, seminal works in the field of Chinese archaeology, architectural history, and East Asian Buddhist study by James Fergusson, Aurel Stein, Liang Sicheng, Ernst Boerschmann, Emmanuel Edouard Chavannes, Oscar Münsterberg, Ito Chuta, Sekino Tadashi, Tokiwa Daijo, and Mizuno Seiichi.

These are significant improvements to the manuscript. I benefited from the process of the revision. I appreciate your help and your time spent reviewing the manuscript.

In addition, I added illustration descriptions and copyright information to all figures. I also made the corrections to typos and some other changes and additions to make the texts better. Thank you again.

Thanks for your insightful contribution. I have learned a lot from your highly descriptive and comparative study of Chinese and Buddhist architecture. I find your theoretical application of translation theory both compelling and convincing.

The final paragraph comes a bit out of the blue and might need some contextualization. Some clarity regarding how the examples you use relate to translation theory could improve an already great article.

I contextualized the translation of Buddhism in Chinese funeral architecture in the final paragraph by clarifying the way examples in discussion are related to the translation theory. I added a linking passage between the last and the second last paragraphs, explaining the relationship between form, content, function, and architectural typology, to contextualize the quotation and to highlight the benefit of translation as an interpretive model for a more accurate understanding of the Buddhist architecture as a Chinese tradition.
