Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

This manuscript presents Emission Inventory For Maritime Shipping Emissions In The North And Baltic Sea. The manuscript is interesting. Few comments for the revision.

1. The authors can talk more about ship routing and its role in using the data.

2. The authors can provide more information about the processing of data and what is the software used and is there any need to clean the data?

3. It will be interesting to consider the loading condition of the ship, trim, etc to have a clear overview of the energy efficiency.

4. The authors can present some estimations related to the updating of these data due to climate change.

Reviewer 2 Report

The article addresses the important topical issue of pollution from international shipping.

The article is properly structured, but has some shortcomings from the point of view of the scientific design of the research.

The article lacks a clear research question and research objectives. Successive methodological step-by-step approaches are not clear, so that the methodological approach could be repeated in the analysis of similar geographically rounded areas, or in the acquisition and management of data.

Some suggestions for improvements:

1. Abstract

There is a lack of definition of the scientific goal and how the research complements existing approaches. How does the research and data differ from previous knowledge?

2. Introduction & literature review

The research question and objectives are missing.

It would be appropriate to add the relevant literature on obtaining data on the emission of GHG emissions from maritime transport.

3. Methods

It would be necessary to describe and/or demonstrate the methodological approach step-by-step in order to enable reproducibility of the data acquisition.
