Round 1

Reviewer 1 Report

The manuscript horticulturae-1792618 reviews the scientific reports and advances on biostimulants presented at the 5th Biostimulant World Congress. The review is interesting, helpful, and could add knowledge to the field. The organization of the sections is appropriate, and the summary of each biostimulant formulation is useful. I would change only some minor aspects. However, the English language should be improved. See specific comments below.

Provide at least a summarizing table of the different types of biostimulants. Provide also a summarizing figure.

For each section, I would provide a summary of the description of the type of product based on EU regulations.

L276 - I would add some additional details about it, citing, for example, the types of microorganisms included in the products.

L281-284 - This product is not microbe-based. I would move it to the 2.9 section.

L364 - I would merge these contents with the 2.5 section.

L470 - ...microorganisms included in the EU regulation 2019/1009.

Author Response

Reviewer 1

Reviewer. English language should be improved.

Authors: In the previous ms, a native English speaker reviewed the English. Nevertheless, a new English speaker has again reviewed the English.

Reviewer. Provide at least a summarizing table of the different types of biostimulants. Provide also a summarizing figure.

Authors: We are very grateful for the reviewer’s comments,
but we consider that this information would not be useful, to repeat what is already appears in the text

Reviewer. For each section, I would provide a summary of the description of the type of product based on EU regulations.

Authors: We greatly appreciate the reviewer's comments but believe this information would be too lengthy and therefore not timely

Reviewer. L271 - I would add some additional details about it, citing, for example, the types of microorganisms included in the products.

Authors: This has been added, in cases where the main authors provide the information

Reviewer. L281-284 - This product is not microbe-based. I would move it to the 2.9 section.

Authors: This has been changed, to lines 348-352

Reviewer.  L364 - I would merge these contents with the 2.5 section.

Authors: This has been changed, to lines 294-300

Reviewer.  L467 - ...microorganisms included in the EU regulation 2019/1009.

Authors: This has been added

Lines 53-63. “The various studies…among others.” I propose to remove this information

Line 71. Delete "the average”

Line 76. use the full name Ascophyllum nodosum only once, then use only A. nodosum in the text

Line 76. after the word stress, give the temperature in parentheses

Line 95. provide specific plants

Line 99. “different crops”- provide specific plants

Line 114. "improved production by 22%"  - unclear
