Comments and Suggestions for Authors

Dear Author(s),

The manuscript ID: Inventions 2024, 9 and titled “Detection and Analysis of Aircraft Composite Material Structures using UAV” was reviewed. It is an experimental paper in which the developed thermal imaging method is properly explained, and provides a known basic principle considering generated data.

The research aim is to investigate the defect detection in the fuselages of unmanned aerial vehicle with composite material through the application of image visual recognition technology. Findings from the study were discussed, and the conclusion was consistent with generated data.

It was evaluated that it is a research paper supported with proper discussion and finding could attract readers especially practisinary, research engineers and modeling and analysis persons in the state of the art. It may be considered to publish in Inventions after some minor revisions as:

1. Please shorten the conclusion of the manuscript.

2. Please enlarge the introduction part of the manuscript and adds some recent literature.

5. Please explain the nature of statistical study in the experimentally developed data.

4. Please explain how to identify the adhesion strength in the patchy part by developed thermal imaging in the manuscript.

My best regards,

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1. In the Abstract, please include specific information of the method/technique used, combining the UAVs with infrared camera and real-time image analysis capability.

2. It will be good if the Introduction review/emphasize the current inspection methods/technologies available in the aviation industry regulation and practice.

3. In section 2, please indicate/report quantitative specifications of the system, for example, maneuverability, image resolution, temperature range, etc.

4. Line 340, please elaborate on the potential misinterpretations with examples.

5. In section 5 Discussion, please discuss the time consumption of the test process, including system setup, inspection, and analysis. Giving examples of the inspection time at various scales of inspection areas or aircraft sizes will be helpful.

6. Please indicate the axes of Figures 5(a-d), 8(c-d), 10(b-c), and 11(c-d). Also, please indicate the unit of temperature in Figure 6, 8(e), and 10(d).

Comments and Suggestions for Authors

1. In Fig 4. the arrow and box are not shown in the picture.

2. This paper proposed a real-time system; the time consumption of steps in Fig 3. should shown in this paper.

3. The corner case of this paper should be pointed out, and accuracy should be shown in this paper, such as percentages.

Comments on the Quality of English Language
