I think this is a very interesting subject, rising sveral questions about IBD pathogenesis. Although its clinical relevance is still very limited, I think that this is an importan step to understand IBD pathogenesis.

I thank this reviewer for her/his kind comments. Minor spell check was finished and corrected with “Track Changes”.The role of macrophage in the pathogenesis of IBD is still under investigation. Clinical relevance of macrophage in the disease progression of IBD is not clear at current stage, but related study showed that macrophage is involved in many steps of wound healing process in the gut.

The paper by Chao Li describes “The unfolded protein response and Crohn’s diseases: a molecular mechanism of wound healing in the gut”. This is an interesting article and has potential to contribute an update of knowledge in the field of gastrology.
Minor concerns:
The review focuses on the role of UPR in the pathogenesis in IBD from an immunologic perspective, in particular, the relationship between UPR and Crohn's disease is discussed, so the author should write a few sentences about inflammatory bowel disease and the two main forms of IBD Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. Line 111-115: because in the "UPR and IBD" section the author also refers to ulcerative colitis.
