Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development calls on countries to begin efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) over the next 15 years. SDGs that particularly relate to sustainable materials in pavement construction are SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; SDG 13: Climate Action; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Aligning with these SDGs ensures sustainable design and growth, incorporating applications of fundamental environmental science and sustainability indicators (covering environmental, social, and economic aspects) that industries and organizations have adopted in their management and design decisions in construction.

Pavements constitute an important asset of developed and developing countries. They contribute to economic and social well-being at all levels. Advancing sustainability in pavement materials supports road authorities in constructing long-lasting, eco-friendly, and cost-effective but also resource-efficient pavements due to reduced material usage.

The aim of this Special Issue is to collate original research and review articles that provide insight into current advances in pavement materials for sustainable construction that will drive ongoing and future progress in the sustainability of transportation infrastructure.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
