Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Historically, multi-physics modeling and simulation were restricted to some specific fields of research, such as electromechanical problems, vibroacoustic problems, and flow-induced vibrations. Currently, however, we are experiencing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and in industrial plants mechanical systems are becoming multi-physical systems due to the strong integration with electrical, fluidic, and electronic devices and sensors. Outside industrial plants, the needs for widening the operativity of existing machines and vehicles in new environments, as well as the development of new technologies, have fostered the development of multi-physical devices. Typical examples can be found in aerospace equipment (e.g., morphing wings and rovers), biomedical equipment (e.g., portable diagnostic devices fed by energy harvesters), and bio-inspired machines and robots (e.g., walking and amphibious robots). Moreover, the development of powerful codes for multi-physics simulation has made it possible to study more conventional components (e.g., tires), taking into account the contemporary presence of mechanical, thermic, and fluidic phenomena, with an improvement in simulation results.
This Special Issue aims to disseminate the latest research achievements, findings, and ideas in the field of multi-physical system dynamics.
Papers are welcome on topics that are related to the theory, practice, and applications of multi-physical system dynamics. Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Multi-physical systems for energy harvesting;
- Multi-physical systems for robotics and automation;
- Multi-physical walking and amphibious machines;
- Aerial, space, and underwater robotics;
- Bio-inspired machines;
- Multi-physical biomedical equipment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
