Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
B5G (Beyond 5G) is currently leading the next-generation communication technology trend. It is concerned with the development of low-orbit satellites and the deployment of high-frequency bands, so that low-orbit satellite communications can also support high-speed, low-latency, and multi-connection features. In addition, low-orbit satellites enjoy the advantage of wide signal coverage, which is beneficial to integration with 5G networks. That is, they complement 5G networks to meet seamless networking needs in rural areas, deserts, seas, and air.
The development of next-generation communication technology will promote the emergence of new applications, and will also promote the progress of more new technologies, e.g., satellite Internet of Things (consisting of maritime, Internet of Vehicles, and aviation), satellite communication applications (e.g., disaster relief and military backup communications), and satellite broadband services. Smart Internet of Vehicles technology will be applied to the information exchange between vehicles. In addition to self-driving vehicles being able to exchange road information via the Internet, they can also obtain high-resolution maps or real-time road conditions to make driving safer. Maritime applications for ships are used for instant notification of disasters; marine fishery safety; production management; ship business (e.g., inshore and pelagic fisheries, offshore operations, and leisure and entertainment); the safety of the marine environment; and maritime positioning, search, and rescue. Therefore, we kindly invite researchers and practitioners to contribute their high-quality original research or review articles on these topics to this Special Issue.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
