Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue focuses on the ways in which Renaissance Europeans (1400-1600) employed forms and ideas derived from ancient Greece and Rome in their construction and decoration of domestic objects. Contributors are invited to submit articles that examine the ways in which classical antiquity exerted its influence on the decorative embellishments of objects that were used and displayed in the homes of a widely varying swathe of the population, from merchants and bankers to aristocrats and royalty. We hope to assemble scholarship on topics as varied as Tudor furnishings, French ceramics, Italian deschi da parto, Netherlandish tapestries, German ironwork, and Spanish earthenware. The tentative deadline for submissions is June 2025.
