Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue explores the latest advancements and innovative applications of image processing and digital modeling within the biomedical field. It aims to highlight cutting-edge research that enhances diagnostic tools, treatment planning, and overall patient care through improved imaging techniques and computational models.
This Special Issue includes, but is not limited, to the following topics:
Advanced Imaging Techniques:
- Explore breakthroughs in medical imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, PET, and ultrasound.
- Discuss the integration of AI and machine learning to enhance image quality and diagnostic accuracy.
Image Analysis Algorithms:
- Present novel algorithms for image segmentation, registration, and feature extraction, with a focus on leveraging deep learning techniques for improved performance and accuracy.
- Evaluate the role of deep learning in automating image analysis and improving workflow efficiency.
Digital Modeling in Patient Care:
- Investigate the creation of personalized digital models (e.g., 3D anatomical models) for surgical planning and simulation.
- Address the impact of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) in medical training and patient education.
Applications in Disease Diagnosis and Treatment:
- Showcase case studies where advanced image processing and modeling led to improved outcomes in diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular conditions, and neurological disorders.
- Discuss the implications for precision medicine through the integration of imaging data with genomic and metabolomic information.
This Special Issue seeks to foster collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and technology developers to drive innovation in image processing and digital modeling. By showcasing the intersection of technology and biomedicine, it aims to pave the way for future research and improved healthcare delivery outcomes.
Researchers are invited to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies that align with the themes outlined in this summary.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2700 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
