Mass spectrometry is an analysis technology that enables the detection of high sensitivity according to mass through ionization, acceleration, separation, and detection of samples. Mass spectrometry technologies such as LC-MS, GC-MS, MALDI-TOF MS, and tandem mass spectrometry have been developed for various fields, including environmental analysis, drug analysis, and biological sample analysis. In recent years, various studies have been reported on a wide range of topics, from the analysis of single substances to omics, including proteomics and metabolomics. Since biomarker molecules are distributed in very small amounts in biological samples, it is necessary to develop a highly sensitive quantification method. Mass spectrometry, which can provide rapid analysis, small-volume analysis, and sensitive analysis, has the potential to grow as a new diagnostic paradigm in the medical field.
This Special Issue aims to provide the latest advances in mass spectrometry for quantitative analysis in biological samples. Various techniques, such as pretreatment techniques for detecting molecules in biological samples, chromatography techniques, and matrix materials for ionization, will be appropriate for this Special Issue. In addition to the subject areas presented in the keywords below, all quantitative analysis work using mass spectrometry is also welcome. Both review articles and original research papers will be considered for publication.
