Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
With the rapid progress being made in science and technology, laser surface treatment technology is increasingly widely used in the fields of material science, engineering manufacturing and advanced manufacturing technology. The purpose of this Special Issue is to collect the latest research on laser surface treatment technology and discuss its main development directions.
- Innovation and application of laser surface treatment technology:
Laser surface treatment technology, with its unique high energy density and accuracy, provides a powerful tool for material surface modification, repair and enhancement. This Special Issue will showcase the latest advances in laser surface cleaning, laser cladding, laser alloying, laser hardening and other technologies. These technologies can not only be used for the surface treatment of traditional materials such as metals and alloys, but also for the processing and modification of new materials such as ceramics and composite materials.
- Optimization of and improvement in laser surface treatment technology:
Although laser surface treatment technology has achieved remarkable results, it still faces many challenges in process optimization, efficiency improvement and quality control. This Special Issue will focus on parameter optimization, energy control, and real-time monitoring and feedback technologies in laser surface treatment to improve machining accuracy, reduce energy consumption and increase production efficiency.
- Future prospects of laser surface treatment technology:
With the continuous emergence of new materials and new processes, the application prospects of laser surface treatment technology will progressively expand. This Special Issue will explore the potential applications of laser surface treatment technology in intelligent manufacturing, green manufacturing and other fields, and will look ahead to its important position in future industrial development.
This Special Issue will bring together the latest research results and cutting-edge developments in the field of laser surface treatment technology from around the world, providing a platform for scholars and engineers in related fields to display and exchange information. We are looking forward to promoting the further development and application of laser surface treatment technology through the launch of this Special Issue and making important contributions to innovation and development in the field of industrial manufacturing.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
