Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Indoor localization technologies are crucial for enabling intelligent environments and enhancing user experiences in various settings, including healthcare, retail, and industrial sectors. As we continue to push the boundaries of what is possible within indoor spaces, this Special Issue seeks to gather insights into state-of-the-art research and future directions in indoor localization.
The aim of this Special Issue on "Trends and Prospects of Indoor Localization" is to present high-quality research articles and reviews that cover recent advancements and innovative approaches in the field.
Topics of interest for this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Innovative Indoor Positioning Technologies: Advances in sensor fusion, beacon systems, and ultra-wideband technologies;
- Machine Learning and AI Enhancements: Application of AI and machine learning techniques to improve positioning accuracy and context-aware services;
- System Architecture and Integration: Development of systems that integrate multiple data sources for enhanced localization;
- Applications and Case Studies: Exploration of indoor localization applications in smart buildings, healthcare monitoring, asset tracking, and personalized advertising;
- Privacy and Security in Indoor Localization: Addressing the challenges associated with securing location data and ensuring user privacy;
- Ubiquitous and Continuous Localization: Solutions for seamless indoor-outdoor transition and persistent environmental awareness.
This Special Issue will serve as a platform for researchers to share their innovative findings and contribute to the ongoing development of indoor localization technologies. We encourage submissions that offer theoretical advancements, experimental validations, and comprehensive reviews.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Electronics is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
